bosstrabs But you can’t knock their bangers and mash. Or even better, pork knuckle, mash and sauerkraut. Or, ‘gewinnen’ as my German cousin ‘tolle schuhe’ likes to call it.
I have had some very good mash here, certainly.
Their sausages in restaurants can vary wildly. There are so many different types and they often don’t really describe well or at all what it is on the menu. They’re still in most cases very good mind, but often you can end up with something completely unexpected.
Also, the vast majority of sausages here have a very different consistency to the British banger, being much more finely ground and silky, as opposed to the chunky meatiness of good British banger. Many of them are still excellent, but again it’s surprising how rare the more meaty style is.
Finally, the sausages available to buy in supermarkets here are mostly crap and you’ll be lucky to find much more than a bog-standard Bratwurst. If you want anything resembling a more meaty banger then you’ll be in for a proper mission trying to find anything close. The range of sausages in a decent British supermarket is far superior. It’s incredibly bizarre given the supposed German love of sausages that their supermarkets are truly so pathetic at them.
Pork knuckle is an abomination btw. An overly salted mess. I guess being used to Chinese cuisine you’re not so bothered by salty gristly crap though.
