benson I happen to think we really do need to do something about it. Not just climate change, but consumerism in general, the constant push to make and buy more stuff. There is something slightly rotten at the core with that.

This isn’t innovative thinking, and I happen to think the same.

Thinking and doing are different though, likely we could both do more.

Economic growth is the enemy of game changing action on climate change (and no, I am not a denier or a doomsday-monger). Pity governments didn’t borrow massively to invest in the transition to green energy five years ago when interest rates were at record lows. Layering extra taxes on the hard pressed in an acute cost of living crisis is a recipe for disaster.

Call me pessimistic, but our economic system is completely misaligned with societal and environmental good. There’s no fixing this without massive pain. There’s no political or economic will to do what’s necessary and corporations will watch the world burn before doing the right thing.

benson Me too and that’s the other issue, no one wants to view this as a population problem. People can stop driving and eating meat all they want, but having fewer kids would be a much more effective solution.

Lol in terms of consideration, annoyance was one step above environmental impact.

JSO have been pranked at a party they held for themselves.

If we’ve only got 3-4 years left, we should travel and fly as much as we can.

Go down with some bloody good memories.

If you think really hard about, you might realise the context is different.

If you don’t black out that is!!

Even Chris Packham admits if one large volcano goes off, it would engulf all off the industrial revolution carbon emissions pretty fast.

I’m all for cleaner air to breath, fresh water and less plastic in oceans but mother nature is bigger and has heated and cooled naturally many times before. Another mass extinction is inevitable no doubt at some point that’s the way she works.
