Came across a Mexican place in Windermere last time I was over. Called Bandito Burrito. Wanted to tell them Bandito is a slur that’s quite frowned upon these days. But I’m not Mexican and I doubt they meant any harm so whatever.

Places like Windermere are perennially stuck in the 1970s.

Full of brexiteers, daft racists and mahoosive loosers.

      Smallman1

Meh. I don’t go there to make friends. The extent of words shared probably maxes out with a “thank you” at Booths.

      Millsy

Across the street from Bandito’s is a place called “Brown Sugar.” Almost certainly racist.

It’s Windermere. Call it White Sugar you slave owning cunts.

      Smallman1

You’re a dirty Tory and I definitely remember you being pro leave until you realised how uncool it made you.

Good to see our American comrades getting in on the action:

Cunts, If they go at my leccy SUV I’ll be getting the flamethrower out 🔥

Amps I too am pretty much done with flying. Thinking about Bedrock’s birthday this fall, but it is giving me real anxiety, I’d feel like the world’s worst hypocrite in the plane.

Next Berlin trip is going to be by train, that’s actually very doable and might be a fun experience. Just takes a long time. First step being a 12 hour boat ride to Stockholm.

Homegrove First step being a 12 hour boat ride to Stockholm.

You really do live in the cul-de-sac of Europe! That’s a beast of a start and end to a trip 💩 You very much have to have your heart and mind open to the idea of ‘slow travel’ to ditch the planes. The adjustment to the idea of the travelling being part of the holiday / experience is a difficult one. But a good set of noise cancelling headphones and the occasional upgrade can work wonders (The Bose QC45 are de rigueur for just about everyone in the music industry when travelling).

Hoping they go through with plans to reinstate the Trans Europe Express service in the coming years. They’ve had a lot of success in Italy with good HS train services adding to the demise of domestic air travel, I reckon the TEE could do the same for a lot of other European journeys for a good chunk of travellers.

          Amps Bose QC45

Swapped the Bose for a pair of Sony WH-1000XM5‘s a month or so ago.

Fucking superb cans, the sound and noise cancelling well betterer.

          And that’s a FACT

            Heathen!

Mad_Cyril Out of interest, you’re not DJing in them are you? The noise cancelling ones do some work on the acoustics and make for a horrible DJing experience, even if you turn off any of the cancelling technology.

Amps And then some cunt dialled down the styling and turned up the bland:

Another one that looks sweet, but will probably get fucked over before it make sit into production. Looks like it might be a decent size too, instead of a wannabe SUV.

Absolutely nothing about driving that car around screams “I’m a complete and utter cunt” - nothing

                  No.

Find their noise cancelling a lot less intrusive than the Bose though

Mad_Cyril Fair play. I quite like the white ones, nice 70s sci-fi aesthetic going on, very Logan’s Run.

Excellent thread here, there’s quite a bit of stuff to swallow and I bet 99% of the tree huggers out there have no clue about this stuff.

Hmmm. Nothing new there for me, although I appreciate I’m keen on the subject. Most of the stuff he talks about regards mining is still currently favourable to burning fossil fuels and having to recapture them. I think a lot of the mining stuff is like the nuclear; it can be done well if the right people are in place and it is correctly funded. The simple fact is there are too many of us and we consume to much consumerist shite.

                    My carbon footprint is low.

My bants footprint however is seriously HIGH.

Homegrove subscribe to a carbon offset business like Ecologi, I offset more than I use even with flying.

It’s going to be a hot one there guyz. Just put your aircons on👍 Y’know like they do in other countries when it gets hot.

Amps sorry, I can’t get onboard with this.

LT42 It’s so hot I can’t tell if you’re just making a bad pun or genuinely object to the premise of the tweet.

                      • LT42 replied to this.

Amps both really. Simms is spouting hot air. “We need to find alternative means for travel” is such a hollow argument for a few reasons. No.1 being, the aviation industry is leading the way in the use of low footprint SAF since 2008 and major airlines will transition to this with next gen aircraft over the next 20 years. Its a technology that’s been in development for decades. No.2 being, he makes no argument for what should replace this kind of long haul travel, what does he suggest, hot air balloons? Horse and carriage?
Its just another example of some twat spouting disingenuous and controversial nonsense on Twitter for likes and shares, maybe to promote a new book. It would be better if he was realistic as the aviation industry isn’t going anywhere.

                        “Ban aviation Advertising”… jesus

LT42 short flights should be replaced with trains though. If it takes you three hours by train, and two with an airplane with all the airport hassle included, it should always be more convenient to take the train. Finnish government is actually aiding in country-flights financially, when that money could be used to add more trains, and making the train tickets more affordable. Situations where a flight is cheaper than a train when both companies are government owned is fucking nuts.
