zackster Glad someone else said it. Miami was a complete piece of shit. Brace for impact bc, this place goes ’nanas for that mix. Thank god BF isn’t here, or he’d be coming straight off the top turnbuckle.
Christian i was collecting them from the beginning and adam freeland Mexico was the swan song that it was never going to get close to the old comps. therefore i have satoshi new breed lavelle Romania and Barcelona deep dish Moscow , Toronto and after hours mixes
ScottBailey hugopal thst was the last GU CD I bought, although I purchased a digi’ copyof Paris which was an insta’fail. Didn’t dislike Miami, but definitely didn’t live up to the hype for me
Smallman1 Miami for me summed up what I’ve been saying for years. That Danny Howells is massively overrated.
Christian jonattonyeah tectonics was superb along with costal breaks 2. on tour started to get a bit of a racket but was bearable. by the time the fabric mix came round withwe want your soul type breaks he had completely lost me
jonattonyeah Christian Agreed. Technics is one of the few mixes from that era I still pull out from time to time. Still sounds great. His GU just seemed like someone who’d lost the plot. All that French/Justice style of…I don’t even know what to call it. Think Carl Craig’s mix of Faze Action is good, ‘though. Unique track that.
Smallman1 Millsy think he told Ed to put his top back on once and had his card marked ever since A lol for Millsy!
Smallman1 Reckon I’ve seen Howells say 10 times. 9 of those times he’s been absolutely fucking dreadful. Ruined one of my birthdays at The End he was so bad though he did give me a free tequila tbf.
Christian jonattonyeah heel and toe and we want your soul was when freeland’s credibility took a massive nose dive. he did that one mix a few years ago which was ace, but then went back to his normal shite
hugopal jonattonyeah Think Carl Craig’s mix of Faze Action is good, ‘though. Unique track that. It’s an excellent track, actually sounds like being drenched in sweat in a club somehow. Carl Craig’s flurry of creativity around that time was one of the few good things to happen in electronic music in the mid-late 00s.
jonattonyeah Saw Howells at a tiny club in SF. Played the night before in Los Angeles. Would normally fly up but due to wildfires planes were grounded. He drove the 5 hours up for the gig. Leveled the place. Other times he was good but never quite got to top gear. Never made it to the Diggers peak time vortex level.
Smallman1 jonattonyeah Other times he was good but never quite got to top gear. Never made it to the Diggers peak time vortex level. Is the right answer.
303abuser jonattonyeah howells isn’t special because he bangs it out. he always played great tunes across a variety of genres and meshed them seamlessly. i definitely enjoy is warmup slots and housier sets more myself, but the guy is a master at what he does.
