RichM Smallman1 is that the Nina replacement or were they always going to be a surprise set? That will certainly be decent.
Smallman1 Heno What acts are yous planning on going to see? ( I say planning very loosely!) I’m going where the wind takes me Heno. I shan’t be missing Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross (hello sailor) Leon Bridges, Bonobo, Overmono, The Chems and Bicep though.
ScottBailey Amps for the state that farm gets left in by the tourists, you can’t help hoping for a few cases of trench foot to pop up in London and Co. in the following weeks…
Amps Heno Grim. I’m all about getting there in the middle of Tuesday night and not picking a spot in a hollow. Out of meteorological interest, some of the most intense thunder I have ever heard was at Glasto, I can only assume it’s something to do with the valley it’s in.
Amps Smallman1 I shan’t be missing Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross (hello sailor) Leon Bridges, Bonobo, Overmono, The Chems and Bicep though Or the long drops!
Amps ScottBailey for the state that farm gets left in by the tourists Guessing it’s arguably left in a better state than most festivals are by their customers? Apparently 99.3% of tents where taken home in 2019?
ScottBailey Amps don’t know about the stats in comparison to other festivals. Know Glasto’ introduced some positive steps towards reducing waste on the site in the last few years, but I did read reports from 2019 that the place was still left like a tip. One of the things the news don’t talk about is the mess the wider area is left in too. I know local residents have had to put up with festival goers using their gardens as toilets, local property being vandalised and rubbish being discarded outside of the festival site over the years.
RichM ScottBailey if the locals don’t like it then they can move?? A bit of piss and the odd turd in your garden once a year is not an issue? Ed must get that in a daily basis living in Tooting
Amps ScottBailey Yeah, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the middle class Waitrose festival that Glasto has become is more beneficial for it’s neighbours than festivals like Leeds / Reading, where the active annual sport is setting your mates tent on fire.
ScottBailey RichM Eavis has had to do a lot of grovelling to his neighbours over the years for sure. That’s why he created the Pilton party after festival to say “sorry” and “thanks” to the local community. Needless to say they eventually cashed in on that as well and it became Glasto 2.0
apyssjw Can imagine that you also get a steady stream of ‘alternatives’ in the area throughout the year, to go with the once a year piss and turds. (The festival is mega - wish I was going this year).
Dubman ScottBailey I went to that one year as I have family who live in Glastonbury. Suade played live. I’ve never been into their music but they were brilliant
