For my money these guys were the best DJs at the turn of the century. Their stuff from back then has certainly aged better than most mixes from that time period, in that there’s way more music in them that still sounds relevant today. So, I started this thread to see if anyone one’s got some gems I’ve missed. My top three mixes from them:

Two first hours from this were aired as their 1998 Essential Mix. Shame the soundquality is not better.

Their GU party in Moscow the Mix CD was based on (I like it, but almost nobody else seems to).

This one’s just a banger:

Mix CDs:

My favorite deep house-mix of all time. I got this 2003 repress just a few years ago, had a CDR copy I made from a friend’s original issue before that.

My introduction to Deep Dish originally. This is still a summer essential for me.

Just my fave mix CD of all time:

Bonus: You can get Yoshiesque Two as a digital release from Juno. It’s the only one that’s available from their good catalogue:

Are they all the unmixed tracks? Im sure there was a few on there ive been after

I’ve got their early stuff with John Selway Moods EP.

The Penetrate Deeper EP was awesome when that dropped.

That Tenaglia remix on Penetrate Deeper 😎

Don’t own any of their mixed CDs but was a fan yoshitoshi back in the day.

      A highlight….

Homegrove undoubtedly great producers back in the day but DJs? Saw them once and they underwhelmed. Their GU was also dire. Flashdance and their remix of Dreams sank the good ship

Also their first GU sounds almost nothing like the 6 hours live recording from the Moscow party, the album is at least half tracks that were NOT played at the party.

Saw them loads in the 90s and a few times around 2k, never heard a bad set from them. Saw them destroy Cream, New Years Eve at the Ministry in 98/99, Space in Miami, Pacha. I’d argue there’s only maybe S&D who outdo them as a duo, brilliant DJs. Their remix of EBTG Wrong is a prized 12 incher that I keep in a safe place.

Dan loved when they were playing stuff like this - Sir Henry’s down in Cork in 95 they tore the place apart over 5 hours with stuff like this. What a club that was. The doris count was at least 2-1 aswell.

Yoshiesque 1 is indeed a great compilation, although its spoiled a bit by some odd tracks on CD2.

Wasn’t a huge fan of Yoshiesque 2 so maybe I need to give that a re-listen.

I saw them in Pacha, Ibiza in summer 1998 and they were tremendous. They played ‘Chocolate City - Love Songs’ from their Junk Science album as well as some remix of Wham - Everything She Wants. The place went nuts

Mad_Cyril Love the way it builds….they were very accomplished producers in their early 20’s.

They’d completely lost it by 2000 and put out the worst Essential Mix of 2004. But I don’t bemoan them for chasing the money after being committed to the underground for so many years. Get paid, Deep Dish!

Used to love Deep Dish I have to say

Them in the main room at The End with me ole mucka Miguel Migs in the lounge was a gift from the gods.

Stay Gold is my desert island track from them

Seen them up end amnesia in 2001 played for 6 hours and absolutely thumped it out, also played in the Redbox a few times and were really good right on till flash dance came out and they became shit

        Was the highlight in amnesia

          Heno Love that remix….proper thumping.

            Heno

Good tune that. Used to play the Gee Shock mix quite a bit. Oddly, the Trancesetters mix was probably my least favorite and I was a big fan of Jark Prongo/Pssst/other aliases they had at the time.

Saw Deep Dish at Amnesia alongside Darren Emerson and Justin Robertson, may have been 2001 actually.

              Lovely stuff!

Smallman1 Darren Emerson was decent around then to, sound skin is Darren put us on the guest list for pacha after meeting him

                  Heno flash dance came out

They started playing that in 2003, so you could say it was over then. It’s twice on the Amsterdam GU Toronto-release party-recording. 😔

It used to go off in the clubs (not that I played it), but I do agree. I have the vinyl though. 😃

His Underwater residency at The End was absolutely superb, one of my faves.

Homegrove I didn’t know it was them when I first heard it out. It defo went off, then it got played in every off license and supermarket I walked in to.

The only Deep Dish mix I have ever heard is Toronto. It’s awful iircc. They get the big s to the werve from me.

                        Stone cold classic Ess Mix:

What little I ever saw/heard about these, I loved them. I think I caught them at Shindig, heard a CD here or there and then I stopped hearing about them. They were loved in the North East.

Saw them a couple of times at Bedrock and they were ace. Then I heard one of their mixes from a later appearance at Bedrock and it was dreadful. It was the one with ’DDD - Let’s go’ on it.

Yoshiesque 1 and 2 were superb. Two of my favourite mix CDs ever.

There was also a Deep Dish ‘Cream Separates’ CD around this time that was solid. In fact, that whole mini-series is often overlooked. Paul Bleasdale put out one that was very good.

Moscow and Toronto were, unfortunately, dogshit.

If you’re seeking out more similar stuff from slightly later than that period, I’ve recommended it before, in my view one of the most underrated Essential Mixes ever:
