Out of the features one might use to describe the identifying characteristics of the cultures and countries in which it’s most prevalent, I’m not sure “patriarchy” would feature particularly highly.

One thing which certainly does link most of those with the highest rates though is a particular religion (hint: it’s not Christianity).

All I have to add on this subject (and I say this with all due grace and reverence to the Lord and each and every one of his blessed children) I sat through several hours of Saint George’s funeral proceedings broadcast live on BBC News and what a beautiful and mighty sad thing it was, seeing all those face-masked, smartly dressed family members talking about having to watch their own flesh and blood begging for mercy and calling the police officer that choked him to death “Sir” …… you can’t help but be moved by that, it was awful and I feel truly ashamed to be a white person in this day and age and I think we all need to stop saying we don’t see colour because that brings nothing to the conversation and we all need to go much much further to redress the balance and stop thinking about ourselves all the time.

Six days after the killing of George Floyd, while the Floyd riots/protests were in full swing and many police officers were otherwise occupied, 18 people were murdered in Chicago alone in what was the deadliest 24 hours in its 60 year recorded history. All of the named victims so far have been black, and they included two 18 year-old female students - one of which, Keishanay Bolden, was a girl studying law enforcement and justice at Western Illinois University.

Where were the televised funerals for Keishanay Bolden, Lazarra Daniels, and the 16 others murdered that day?

Where were the Black Lives Matter protests in response to the killings in Chicago?

The man who killed Floyd has been arrested and is awaiting trial. How many of the killers in Chicago are behind bars?
