Even the stories around vaccines is sounding pretty grim. Africans already complaining that they’re being targeted as guinea pigs by corporations who are absolutely milking all of this financially. Also hearing about young folk who are part of the testing process, injecting themselves with COVID to be guinea pigs for vaccines.

Along_the_Wire yeah I see your point, It appears the main reason for joining is to access more financial clout when bargaining with the drugs companies for any supplies required. I can see sense in that, but this decision has obviously been tainted by Brexit, thus we got it alone.

Shit is getting a bit too real in India. Wife and I are in self imposed lockdown for the next month or two.

Friend lost his dad yesterday in Bombay, was on a ventilator for two weeks.

Wife’s teammate lost his uncle day before yesterday, went to the cemetery to bury him, was told it would take at least a week to have him buried because there were already 40 bodies in waiting - they’ve never seen anything like this before. They only found out he was positive today. Media are already saying there is no space in the hospitals in Bangalore.

That sounds crap Rhouses - sorry to hear. I look at the stats going out of India (on Worldometer) and don’t believe any of it..the real picture has to be far worse.

I got series of replies from TFL and the British Transport Police on mask enforcement. Bottom line is 1) TFL don’t enforce it because they can’t determine who is and isn’t exempt, 2) it’s optional for an officer to enforce it pretty much..and in any case they don’t have the manpower to do it properly.

So that’s it folks: because of carelessness of the useless twats who run this country (i mean how costly IS IT to enforce this really?!), many more people are going to die.

I give up.

We’re back in an official lockdown in Bangalore and thankfully the state government is being relatively truthful about the situation. Said that we need to buy more time to put more health infrastructure in place - beds, ventilators, ambulances.

They say a week, but we’re thinking it’s going to be extended to August. Kinda relieved tbh, could do with some proper social distancing now.
