Along_the_Wire
Just seen the demos and spoken to Matt via PM.

Has to be better than trying to remember from the night before!

Along_the_Wire I use it all the time.

When I’m messing about, If I discover a couple of tracks that I think go well together, Just click on the little link icon and they are saved as “matching” tracks.

I find it really useful for keeping track of tunes that go well together

Mad_Cyril I was the same have tracktor and am moving over like the idea of just a usb stick and been able to get on with it, bought a ddj 200 it’s great bit of fun

Along_the_Wire Not sure about that. I’ve never used it.

I use the related track filters and the matching tracks feature. I have a few playlists set up but usually just play from the main collection, which is a couple of thousand tunes. The filters are just handy for narrowing that down to a more manageable size. Then the matching tracks, I just use to keep track of mixes that I like.

There are probably better ways to use rekordbox. That’s just the way I’ve come across that works for me

Heno how do you select tracks and stuff on the USB if there’s no screen? Also can you record straight onto USB? I like the idea of not needing a laptop when you just fancy a quick mixing sesh.

      • Heno replied to this.

mono-stereo no I’m saving for xdj 700’s just bought the ddj to listen to tracks from my phone and mucking about on, had it on out my mates back garden last Sunday was good fun

          Dubman
          Haha. Not for £250 notes.

Think the flashing lights alone cost 200 per component!

Its a means to an end though. The videos tell me it will standardise my “workflow” with the XDJs.

The path to illumination is now clear!

            Mad_Cyril

Why couldn’t you do that with the S2.. couldn’t you get on with the Traktor software.

Just out of interest, why would you get separates and not and all-in-one like the RX2 or the XZ?

                Dubman
Traktor sw is fine, but Rekordbox has more features that suit my needs, mostly around making it easier to pair tracks whilst learning to mix.

                  Dubman
                  Traktor does key too.

Rekordbox allows you to link tracks you think go well together.

That process in Traktor is manual, based on add notes, remembering what you tagged as etc…

There’s a puppy of other features that Matt explains better above.

And I’m also i terested in this oud thingy making me more mobile than listening to tunes on a laptop

Fair enough mate. I’ve never used rekordbox so if can’t compare the two.

                    Dubman
Hopefully. Only looking for a bit of extra help to learn, don’t want to rely on it to piece sets together if that makes sense?

If Im still shit there’s always ambient 😁

                    You use the Traktor then?

I used to but stopped straight after I bought an S2 as it done my back in leaning over to use it. To be honest you’ve just got to know your tunes then you’ll soon know what goes with what. I’ve been using vinyl the last few weeks & I think I prefer it now.

Usually they want a better mixer in between the decks?
