Dan A scientist on 5 live reckons they’ll use the moon as a launching pad as it’s easier and uses less fuel. I can see Space X enabling this.
Was reading about this a while back, I think Elon’s idea is to build everything in orbit, which he believes will be even easier than the moon. The issue is the amount of propellant needed, think NASA is still keen on a nuclear option with Space X going for standard ish rocket fuel. I could be wrong on that though.
