Heno the you tube algorithm now has his output on my ‘feed’ (pun intended). I’m hooked.

I’m off t’Leeds in’t Summer. I’ll be hitting KPs wit brother n’law for deep fried chip butty, I’ll tell you that for owt!

Heno look at the amount of food here

      That made me feel sick.

Fishcakes should be round, covered in breadcrumbs and fried. Love them.

Along_the_Wire Exactly, which is why I was a bit taken aback when I was handed it - thought they’d got the order wrong. I pointed to what I always had known as a fishcake in the display and was then informed that’s what they call a rissole.

I’m not from Yorkshire originally but have spent about 8 years living in it at some point or other and can confirm it’s part of the regional dialect. All the chippys I’ve been to in the county use these terminologies.

Long story short, if you want a fishcake in Yorkshire ask for a rissole instead.

PDJ Rissole is (obviously) a French term, which means pretty much the same thing, though it need not be fish.

bosstrabs That’s true, I’ve never seen the word used on a menu in a Fish & Chip shop outside of Yorkshire though.

It would be slightly less confusing if the menu stated “Yorkshire Fishcake” and “Fish Rissole” but I imagine that it’d still baffle most people from outside of the region who don’t know the local dialect. It’s by the by anyway - most menus just plainly state Fishcake and Rissole.

Millsy I’ll tell you that for owt!

‘for nowt’ (I’ll tell you that for nothing)

I’ll tell you that for owt means ’I’ll tell you that for something’ which doesn’t make as much sense and is less likely to be said (although may be said mistakenly)

It that slop reviewer guy a known internet personality round ya’lls parts?

                  Christ no.

I couldn’t imagine him in Locanda Locatelli for example.

bosstrabs I’ve picked this up from my Derby in laws. Sweet people but not the brightest candles, so I will now be pulling them up on it at every family occasion in my best home counties accent.

Whenever one of these is posted I am compelled to watch the entire thing. I’ve been going around all day exclaiming “ooh look at this!” at everything I see. That burger he builds is an absolute poem. Two beef patties, grilled chicken, nachos, salad, mashed potatoes, gravy…. I lost count!
