C_J For me, it’s that in Scotland or tartare sauce in England. Never ketchup.

I just can’t get my head around having curry sauce on fish ’n’chips. I do like mushy peas with mine also.

Mad_Cyril there’s some pretty upmarket fish n chip outlets up here these days although I’ll admit did get a couple of fairly robust looks the other day when I enquired as to the provenance of their fish and whether or not their tartare was artisanal.

I’m not a fan of capers, so the tartare sauce game becomes a serious business in downtown Teddington.

Mad_Cyril With, not on Dubbers. There’s a world of difference.

I see. just a side pot to dip your chips in.

There’s a banging chippy not far from us, called Wolfies.

They deliver, but just not quite the same. Opening up for carefully distanced takeaway next week, and I can’t fucking wait. Haddock, chips and mushy peas. Salt and vinegar on all three. Tartare sauce not optional IMO.

Curry on fish and chips does happen up north, but it’s a bit eccentric, like the ‘Pie barm’

Most people don’t do it and those who do get looked at a bit weird.

It is indeed. Sarah, the chef/owner, is brilliant in the kitchen. Got herself on Bourdain’s show not too far from his unfortunate passing.
