loopdokter i do my best to hold it down, but it’s mostly just me complaining about shit weather and the occasional moose.

mono-stereo changed the title to Drive Time with the Loopmeister .

With the change of direction of this thread, I’m guessing this is what we are after

303abuser To be honest, Canadian drive time looks shit, that’s probably why you fly or use those massive double decker trains you have.

RichM i avoided posting her at all costs, she’s worse than nickelback. sarah mclachlan would be a better choice lol.

        RichM

        Fuck right off. My word.

Mods, for the love of Pete have a word with Rich please?

303abuser oh it generally is, there’s a reason i haven’t listened to the radio since i was 14 or so. do we have double decker trains?

He’s probably thinking of The Rocky Mountain Express, which does indeed have double decker cars.

Rail in Canada otherwise absolutely shit thanks a former prime minister of the Conservative variety who gutted it in the 1980s (Brian Mulroney). And by shit, I mean slumming it in some godforsaken 3rd World country shit. We don’t have a a single high speed line of rail ANYWHERE in the country.

Sarah was awesome before she went all adult contemporary radio. Also, Our Lady Peace? Have a fucking word with yourself. At least chuck in some GOOD Canadian drive time.

Case in point re: Sarah McLachlan:

loopdokter I’ve never been on a train in this country, I looked once and it was cheaper and faster to fly. Made no sense to me.

            loopdokter Our Lady Peace?

Naveed is still a great record, can’t say I really followed them much after their fist two albums though. They were half decent opening for GnR a couple of years ago.

              ScottBailey

Those too. Totally forgot since I don’t ride Go because even for commuter rail, it’s also shit. I live in the equivalent of one of the Home Counties to London and we get 1 train to Toronto in the morning at stupid o’clock and 1 back at like 8 p.m. with no service on the weekends. It takes two hours when the drive there in theory should take one sans traffic.

ScottBailey Toronto is too far. If I’m going that way, I’ll skip it and head for Montreal. Actually hoping to get there to see Misstress Barbara for her labour day piknic set.

loopdokter they’re convient for me to get into downtown at a leisurely pace whenever I’m over staying with my friend in Mississagua, but I wouldn’t want to be commuting on them for sure.

They’re garbage. End of. They’re typical Canadian band propped up by Canadian Content (AKA CanCon where 35% of all radio/TV content has to be Canadian produced) rules on radio and TV. They wouldn’t have a chance of making it outside of the country because they’re shit. They’re not like The Tragically Hip where the reason they didn’t make it big anywhere else is because their lyrical content was all about things in Canada.

Although I will give Raine Maida from Our Lady Peace props for his wife. He definitely married up in the looks department and with a much better musician in Chantal Kreviazuk:

Ahh, right. If you’re not in a rush and want to have some extended train beers, they’re not so bad.

I would use rail all the time to go into Toronto if it were better because traffic is almost as bad as the rail network. I live in Kitchener and it blows my mind that service doesn’t run more frequently here. The train makes so many stops along the way it’s really frustrating.

Next time you’re across the pond give me a shout. 🙂

Those would be my observations too.

Yeah, next time I’m over I’ll mention it for sure. Now that things are getting back to normal, I’ve been invited to a wedding in Chicago in September, so if I go I would fly through Toronto to see my friend who’s just had another baby (not mine I might add 🤣).

Was a time I was over about twice a year for a few consecutive years. Spend most of the time in Toronto, but have managed to see a fair amount of the country from coast to coast now. Often lay over on my way to Pittsburgh to watch my beloved Penguins and Steelers play too 😆
