Life of Chuck (2024). If you don’t like sentimental movies you should stay away from this one. I really liked it, and got something in my eyes at least twice during it, the second one was seeing “In memory of Scott Wampler” in the end credits. He was a voice in my ears for four years every week as the other host of The Kingcast before his sudden passing in 2024.
I really like Mike Flanagan’s stuff, and he’s an amazing Stephen King-adapter (he told King he wanted to adapt this novella, and King went you’re welcome to try, and Flanagan wrote the first draft of this screenplay in one weekend. And it’s perfect), but if there’s something negative here, and in all of his works, it’s that even his theatrical releases feel somehow very Netflixy. Very TV, instead of cinematic. This too despite having an absolute murderers row of character actors and that guys and gals playing a small part in it.
But still yeah, this was solid. And despite dealing mostly with death it was somehow a proper feel good-film.
