Endurance (2024)
Does a decent job of telling both stories in the same film, either is so compelling, there’s an argument that they merit standalone films.
The shots of Endurance on the seabed are breathtaking, genuine heart in mouth moment.
There are also some fantastic quotes, but I’ll not drop any more spoilers.

Prisoners is quite a fucked up watch on second viewing, knowing the twist and all. Hugh Jackman is immense in it. JG’s character is pure thugife. All-time great in the mystery thriller genre. Forgot how good this is.
9.1 / 10
Deadpool and Wolverine (2024)
I had to bail after an hour, absolute garbage. I had no idea what was going on, sounded like more timeline/metaverse nonsense. Plus I just couldn’t stand another quip heavy monologue from Ryan Reynolds. Surprising really as I thought the first two movies were OK.
Not gonna score it seeing as I didn’t finish it
The Substance
It’s like Troma got a proper budget, and employed a Gilliam obsessed Brazzers director to remake Dorian Gray… which should be right up my street, but I struggled to care for it.

rhouses Top film that Rhouses - I’ve done it twice, it wont get a third view
Along_the_Wire Can’t do it again, not for a long while.
Thw Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008). Definitely Fincher’s worst film (yeah I think Alien3 is better), and I still don’t know why he did this. But there’s still a lot to like in this sappy movie too. Like that fact that David Fincher found in himself a way to make a romantic movie. The CGI has aged horribly, but damn are Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt not two beautiful people in the scenes when they are the same age. First rewatch for this for me, and I think it will be another 14 years (saw this for the first time with my ex because she had it on DVD, so some time after it was in theatres) before I go for a third watch.
The Wild Robot: Not a great script, plot is wishy washy af, and the animation is not pixar (does have some wow moments). And yet, if you’re a parent, you will definitely shed a tear or two during this ride (maybe not Grant). The soundtrack is a bit one dimensional in the sense it’s only there to you make you cry and get sentimental. Huge brownie points if you take missus along with the kids, and add a little cherry by saying the movie reminds you of her.
Watched this in a new cinema, only gold class audis, no ads only trailers, and a proper restaurant/menu - wayyyyyy better than my usual gold class experience. Asian springs rolls, peri peri chicken sub, chicken shawarma, and a hot chocolate with a classic chocolate eclair for dessert - all banging.
7.3 / 10 for the movie.
9.5 / 10 for the cinema. Felt incredibly first world and yet I only spent $30 for the whole package.
