Loving the Queen’s Gambit… highly original stuff
Netflix
Cheers for the Chicago 7 film recommendation, it was excellent.
It inspired me to order the Max Hastings book on Vietnam. Just getting stuck into it now, absolutely stunning how the US got themselves involved there against all the advice that it was impossible to win.
LT42 I will check it out….after I have finished the book, which is epic by the way. It starts in 1945 and covers the French colonial cluster before the shambolic era of splitting the country like Korea and the weekly coups which ensued in South Vietnam. Just up to to 1965 where shit is starting to get real with the deployment of hundreds of thousands of men into the jungle. It is a painful read.
The Mrs keeps asking me if I’m enjoying it. My reply is usually ‘blood, death, torture, rape, famine, etc’ What’s not to enjoy!?
Jules72 Yes, I watched the previous series of it and thought they were ok, but not great.
I think my main gripe with that series is they go around shooting people in broad daylight, in public places or bump someone off and there’s never ever any police involved. In fact, I don’t think I saw the police in this series.
Give it a whirl but don’t expect much and you’ll work out what’s going to happen at the end by half way through.
Binged ’The Queen’s Gambit’ over the weekend and thought it was brilliant. Great story and one of the best things I’ve seen in a while.
Thanks to those who recommended it.
Birds playing chess? Whatever next.
Along_the_Wire fit bird playing chess too… mind you:
