Half the price of going off the shelf, but if you can’t be arsed just buy a Dell. Most off the shelf manufacturers use the same components anyway.

      Yeah the X1 is solid. X1/Z1 combo is perfect for basic Traktor shenanigans. Lots of maps out there too if you want to do something different with them.

      Yeah i kind of like the idea of not having to use midi maps so might go with the X1/Z1 combo.

        Got a mate who does this, and was thinking about it, but then just figured these days it must be easy to get a proper decent set up off the shelf. Will have a look at the Dell stuff, I know some of their monitors are decent, but never considered one of their boxes.

          I’ve been close to pulling the trigger on the classic Eventide H3000 a few times now. Keep getting put off by the fact that they’re old, temperamental and expensive.

            zoogly ….it’s an emulation of the Roland RE-201 which was a classic analogue tape delay, very collectable, expensive and temperamental, apparently a decent one too

              zoogly i use the eventide blackhole plugin all the time and love it, i’m sure the hardware is even better.

                Homegrove i’ve heard good things about the adam studio monitors. has to be my next big purchase when i have a properly treated room.

                    303abuser …yeah, I got a great deal so invested in the posh monitors first, but have just bought acoustic panels in an effort to improve the room. Its a glass extension, so I think I’m fighting a losing battle

                        Unbroken1 that’s my problem too, one wall of my studio is glass. i do all of my mixing on the beyer 990s, which is working for the moment, but i’d love to have decent monitors to save my ears some work. i’m not sure investing in them until i have a treated room makes any sense.

                            303abuser …I guess you can only do what you can do though, I’m lucky to have a dedicated room and am unlikely to find another.

                            I see pics of lots of producers studios online that are have huge windows (Butch comes to mind, he has one of those cool garden office things with bifold doors running the length of it). Ultimately, it’s probably as much about coming to terms with the space you have and learning its flaws.

                              i’m lucky that way too, but i had to make aesthetic concession with the wife when we built the house. studio looks great, just not a good acoustic setup. if we sell the house and end up being mortgage free in the near future, i’m really considering building a garden shed studio setup. dedicated electricity, sound proofing, proper acoustics, etc. for now, i’ve learned my headphones well enough to get by. the guy that does my mastering has been amazing when it comes to giving me feedback and it’s really accelerated my learning curve.
