The pasties look appropriately dry for his tastes.

Poor zacko’s head has finally gone.

If you didn’t have sausage rolls and beans when you were growing up then I pity your childhood! A lunch from the gods.

zackster lol. This is like that time I saw someone shovel a spoonful of biryani into a naan when I was in London many years ago. Still horrified at the thought.

Cankles-McJeggings God no. Roti, Naan, Paratha, shouldn’t be anywhere near rice. They’re meant for gravy, kebabs, and “sabji” dishes.

Anything flies with folks who take in pride sandwiches filled with french fries and ketchup. So I mean… hahaha.

Haha I’ve failed miserably. I did it last week infact.
Lamb Biriani a bit of chickpea curry and some chicken balti all wrapped up in a roti 😂😂
Have to say it was fucking immense too!

Cankles-McJeggings That doesn’t sound half bad to be fair. But ideally, it should be biryani + gravy + raita, and roti + chicken balti. Not some heathen mish mash of it all in one roll.

The chickpea curry should really go with a puri/battura, but it’s acceptable if you have it with the roti or even mix it up with the biryani (though that’s not really purist).

What is your definition of gravy?

I don’t feel quite so bad now. I wasnt under any illusion it was acceptable it’s just the fastest vehicle to get it all into the hole. They all complemented one another too somehow.

What would you use a paratha with ? And what is the correct use for a naan? Seems like there are lots of rules. In blighty on a Friday night there are no rules😂 Youd probably look something like this 😱

Cankles-McJeggings In India every time you order a biryani, they’ll send a side of raita and a side of a standard chicken curry, but just the gravy, no meat.

Meat dishes are generally split into three versions - gravy (butter chicken, kerala stew), semi-gravy (balti), or dry (mostly kebabs - chicken tikka, malai kebabs, achari, tandoori chicken, sheek kebabs, kerala beef).

Naan is for North Indian dishes - butter chicken, kebabs (Delhi, Lucknow).
Paratha or Appams or Idliis or Dosas are for South Indian dishes. (Kerala, Tamil Nadu)
Roti can be had with anything really. (Pan India)
None of these should be combined with rice.

Puris/Batturas are made exclusivly for dry masala pototos or chikpea curry.

Very informative and interesting rhouses cheers. I’d guess 99% of Brits would not be aware of this either. Never heard of Appams or idiis! Just looked them up.
Not even sure you can order a chicken curry sans chicken in England 😂

The naan should only ever be used to mop up the baked beans, Dermo
