Amps Cheers - to paint a wider picture, I’m unable to sleep on an empty stomach.

I wouldn’t be averse to eating say 6am, exercising at 7 and not eating until 7 or 7:30 if such a regime exists.

I’m a ‘mixed burner’ if that helps - so I lose weight when I eat more often like 4 or 5 times a day (splitting my lunch in half) but it takes more time out of my day also. I’d prefer to nail fasting.

NasserAlazzawi As mentioned here or in another thread, I have the same issue. I’m lifting to failure three or four times a week, but I will never be setting any PBs whilst I’m fasting.

NasserAlazzawi Honestly… suck it up princess! 😆 If you really want to stick the fasting, then just battle through. After a few months you will start to adapt.

The point is, you want to be doing a stint, at some point in every 24 hours, of not eating for 16 continuous hours or so.

When I first started it was pure nausea for two weeks, after a few months it was mainly sweet cravings, now, when not hungover to sin after the footy, I’m getting there and getting back a bit of control over all my eating and fasting.

NasserAlazzawi i can’t skip breakfast, i absolutely need it to function, so my eating window is approximately 8-4 most days. exercise fasted before breakfast, then get the supplements and a cup of tea in. you just have to figure out what routine works for you by trying different things.

303abuser The alternative to all this fasting and tons of exercise is to eat a bit healthier.

Actually since I turned to rye bread (ham, eggs and toasted rye bread can make a genuinely decent breakfast) and eating rice dishes in the work canteen rather than sarnies or going to Shake Shack, the bit of flab I had has been dropping off.

I also do not want to try to get through a day without breakfast, fuck that.

I can sometimes do two meals, if I make it brunch around 10.30 and then a late lunch around 2pm.

bosstrabs Sure, they’re not mutually exclusive though. Plus fasting and exercising fasted are much easier on a low carb diet.

I’ve got norovirus and today has been absolutely fucking horrendous. I better lose some fucking weight as part of the process

Starting to be able to hold down water again thankfully. So fucking thirsty. No need on top of a hangover.

Honestly feel like a 90 year old

it’s crazy how much dehydration alone can make you feel horrible. i can sympathize with feeling like you’re 90, that’s been the last two months of my life.

Still not feeling much mate? COVID took it out of me for a while too so hopefully you’re well over the worst of it now

i think i’m turning the corner finally, but i’m still not sure. have to do a heart ultrasound next week, but my ecg results were good. i can handle being tired, but i went for a short walk saturday and did a bit of yoga yesterday, both times i had some anxiety a few hours later. i’d love to figure out what’s causing that.

I remember going for a shop the day my 10 day isolation finished and it was a massive struggle. I collapsed on the sofa as soon as ai got in the door - body was running on fumes. It took a few months to get stamina levels back so hopefully you’ll get there soon.

The anxiety could be you subconsciously worrying / overthinking everything you’re suffering is attributed to the COVID. I seemed to have a constant cold that I couldn’t shift and was unsure whether it was COVID hangover, just a low immunity after COVID or possibly a bit of both

i’m expecting the stamina thing to be a process. i order a garmin watch for tracking stuff, so hopefully that’ll help progress things a little and give me some additional feedback to work with.

the anxiety is such a weird thing, i’m normally not anxious at all, so this volume and intensity is nothing i’ve experienced. i know there were a couple of episodes that i triggered myself, but there is definitely a relationship between physical exertion and onset. i’m managing it pretty well now as it’s happening because i’ve had a ton of practice the last few weeks, but i’d rather see it gone altogether. i’m used to exercising my way to good physical and mental health, so this one is a bit of a problem.

Yeah the lack of exercise will defo be a contributing factor. It will come back, might just take a while

              Old-Dutch Ouch

I’ve torn my calf and I had the shits yesterday….fucking agony when you feel the pinch and your legging it 👴🏻🙄

The speewing is subsiding and I’m able to drink water again wirhout throwing up thankfully. Left with the squitts which I’d take any day after today

in 10 years this is going to be a physical rehab board. 😅

303abuser mate I’m jumping on at this post and haven’t read everything. But if you have ever had covid, a couple of our close friends in their 50s got over it and the fatigue started to go - but what lasted the longest was flashing anxiety which sounds like what you are describing.

It did subside but it took several months and really looking after themselves / getting out in nature.

Ignore me if that’s not what this is about but thought I’d reassure if it is.

CBD oil also helps (12% CBD from Karma Coast)

@Dan A mistimed laugh at the moment is a dangerous thing

NasserAlazzawi thanks, yeah i’ve talked to several people now who have described the same thing i’m going through. i think it a much more common and lasting side effect than is being discussed.

i had a couple of people say it took 9 or 10 months to feel normal again. if i can just get back to being able to run in the near future, i’ll be happy.

303abuser it’ll come good mate but I hear you with this as I saw it unfold with someone right in front of me. Like a micro panic attack, really not nice

303abuser sorry to hear you’re having such a tough one 303…. You tried meditation at all? I use it quite a bit and it works

Jules72 cheers and yeah, i do meditate, just not as often as i should. the problem with theses anxiety episodes is that meditation/breath focus makes it worse. my doctor basically said i’m already doing everything i should be, short of meds, which i’m avoiding at all costs.

i think it’s just going to be a matter of time and slowly returning to normal fitness activities. i really believe being able to run again would help a lot, hopefully i can try next week.

303abuser he problem with theses anxiety episodes is that meditation/breath focus makes it worse

The kind of episodes where it’s better to keep your mind busy than trying to quieten it?

BlainSA for the most part. i’m waaaay better at controlling it now than i was a 4 or 5 weeks ago, but reading and making music help a lot still. if i focus too much on my heart beat (even if it’s not elevated), the anxiety seems to creep up faster.

Jules72 Any pointers / recommendations on things to watch / read for a novice?

Smallman1 good shout - it’s def a bit more chilled than the “tops off” disc 2.

303abuser yeah running helps me big time…. I’ve used it to get through very difficult times so I totally know what you mean… you’ll be through this soon enough 👍

wrongun yep I learnt via the headspace app - it has a really good tutorial. During my divorce my stress levels were so intense and my insomnia so bad that I was meditating 30-45 mins a day in 15 min blocks… if you stay disciplined and stick to it it, I think it works. It can be a month or two before you see good results though

Jules72 two months ago i could do 13 km in just under an hour. today, 2 km in 20 minutes followed by a one hour nap. 😅

                                Smallman1

The cure, lads. Less minerals, more cabbage (explains Si’s tip top shape).

Turbo cabbage soup no doubt means turbo toots. No bed sharing on that diet. Extra calories burned through regular super rippers.
