Alright guys,

Hope your eyes handled the orange last week. I’m back outdoors today, we’ve got half decent weather.

Some background info about what’s happening in an hour. I am wondering if any of you had experience with this era/club/artist.

Newcastle had a legendary little House night called Habit at Cosmic Ballroom. The club is still there with a revamp and new VOID kitted out but Habit finished up a 5 year run around 2010.

They had a certain sound around 2005-07. Professionals say that music, like fashion, is cyclical and and I’m actually starting to hear essences of that era returning in some of January’s Progressive/Melodic House releases.

A personal favourite Neil Quigley has returned to the scene as Qess and artists who’s music I currently play like Antrim, Rauschhaus and Matthew Deekay seem to be taking us both back and forward in time using hypnotic tribal loops and unique house grooves.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to dedicate the earlier portion of this Sunday’s Live Set to Cosmic Ballroom and take you on a journey through this vibe in the first hour before ramping up the energy.

If you’ve never dipped your toe into this, you are always welcome to join in, we have a lot of fun in the chat, switch the world off for a couple of hours to music that I hope you enjoy.

Some of you have shown some great support including:

Top man Nass, was beginning to think wasn’t on today.

I’m available for selection, been looking fwd to it 👍

What was another big night in Newcastle, was it shindig?

I remember getting the train over from Carlisle one weekend for Zabiela, had a great time, however I did notice there were a lot of posers who didn’t take our raving down the front 😂

That’s great Nas. Looking forward to tuning in to some top prog and catching up with the MC and the lads before the game

Just Clicked the link and, nothing. Says the channel is offline.

Nass has been doing a JD recently by arriving fashionably late… 😂 Give it a couple of mins @Matt

    • Matt replied to this.

Yeah offline at the moment, what is the track that is on the 30 second promo vid of Nas when you click on the link?

ScottBailey I hope its not something as boring as technical difficulties. Maybe he’s doing a few lines off the poolside table to get him in the zone.

Really enjoyed today Nas, some quality tuneage!

Was top drawer Nass - really enjoyed that. Had wifey and kids bopping away in the kitchen

      Enjoyed that guys. Good crack!

@Matt if I’m late it’s always some link in the chain breaking down.. I love doing these but the stress in the run up is mad on your own. It’s been made more complicated by our internet deciding to suck and the streaming laptop capable of decent graphics having something wrong with it.

So we now have in the chain:

Two cameras > Windows Laptop with (Nvidia Graphics) > NDI linked via ethernet to an iMac receiving to another OBS > which also takes in the audio from the sound card at a delayed rate to the video from Windows (hence the clap test) > iMac connects to the internet via Personal Hotspot on 4G which it sends the stream down.

That’s before squaring up OBS software, cameras, refresh rates, brightnesses on all devices etc so everything looks half decent.

If the Windows laptop would behave like it is connected at the upload speed we really have (8mb instead of 1mb), I could do all of that in one Windows device and just use the 50 metre ethernet cable back to the house like I was in October/November.

Something with Windows 10 updates has knacked the internet up as the Macs perform OK but can’t handle graphics like Windows Nvidia cards can.

It’s a chew on but is totally worth it and the challenge fills in a lot of time (too much if you ask Sophie..)
